Here Comes the Complaining

I know, I know. I am trying to be more positive but here I am again complaining.

Basically, for one of my classes, we have to come up with a creative way to present to the class what our group has picked for the five characteristics of an effective teacher. We were put into groups based on what grade levels we want to teach. Which means that the other people in my group want to teach the younger children.

All of the other groups are talking about doing sketches and other fun ideas like that. This one lady (and I do mean lady; she is much older than everyone else in the class) wants to do a power point. The rest of us are thinking no way because we want to do something creative so we can get a good grade. The rest of us then decide that we want to make a video of our own version of Dora the Explore.

I told everyone that I have a camera that I can use and I can edit it together. I then pull out my camera because I had it with me. The lady then tells me that my camera with be ineffective for our project. A BRAND NEW HD CAMERA IS INEFFECTIVE?!?!?! That makes no sense to me at all.

We then start to assign parts to everyone. One girl is to play Dora, three people are ineffective teachers and one is the effective teacher. Those of us that are playing the ineffective teachers said what we are going to do that will make us look bad. She then says that we all need to go to the YouTubes to find a link on how to be a bad teacher. I mean really now? I think that part is really easy.

Then she made a big deal about filming. The majority of us can meet on one day and she cannot. We told her that we will film all our parts that day and she can film her part another day. She got mad at us for not all filming on the same day. We had already told her what we are going to do.

She then kept going on and on about how we need this poster board with a heart on it so that Dora could pick that one. We were kind of like ok. Then she still kept talking about that heart.

Then on top of that, she still wants to do a powerpoint presentation to go over exactly what we are going to do in the video.

Someone please save me. This all happened in about 30 minutes. Pretty much no one wants to work with her now in our group.

Love ya,
Christina

So Much Reading

I love the fact that I am an education major. I cannot wait to get into the classroom and start teaching. I know that is where I am suppose to be and that is where I want to be but first I have to go through school.

There are some definite perks to being an education major. The first one is the lack of tests. All of my friends are complaining about all the tests that they have this week and next week. Normally I would be right there with them but not this semester. It seems so strange to me that they are having tests already. I feel like school just started but this is our fourth week.

My first test that I have is a midterm in October. Which means I have about a month until then. That gives me lots of time to start studying (yeah right). I guess I feel so disconnected from the rest of the university because the school of education is very exclusive. Only education majors can take these classes.

On the other hand, I have so much reading to do for all of my classes. As soon as I think I am done, there is more to be read. As much as I love to read, this is not my reading of choice. It is interesting but it's not something most people would read for fun. I guess that is the trade off I get for not having any tests. I at least feel like I did not read as much in my classes before.

Free Stuff

Some of my firends who just started college a few weeks ago have now just started blogs and I think that is amazing. Which makes me realize that it has almost been a week since I wrote a blog post.

I have noticed lately that I seem a bit more negative. I mean this in that I am noticing people around me acting very stupid and then in some form or another I write about. I even tweeted something along those lines a couple days ago. I guess that is something that I really need to work on.

Today, my college had a club fair on the patio of our cafeteria. It is what is sounds like. All of the clubs have a table set up and everyone can see what there is to join. The best part of the whole event is all the free stuff you get without even joining anything.

Last year when they had the club fair, it was raining so no one really went to it. This year it was not raining but it was sure was hot. I was out there for about 30 or 40 minutes and I was dying. They had these big obstacle course and water slide and other things like that. They were already up and out before I went to class at 11, so I cannoot imagine how hot they were. As far as I could see, no one was going on those. Everyone was probably thinking the same thing I was.

The good thing was that I got a nice bag, a notebook, a keychain, candy, and two new waterbottles all for free. I think that was pretty good. They had one back in August for the freshman during their orientation but since I was here working, I went during my lunch break and got a ton of free t-shirts.

Hello

Hello everyone. It has been awhile hasn't? Well how is everyone. I am doing ok. I am a little upset because it seems that my fish is dying. He seems to be doing a little bit better but I will just have to wait and see.

The reason I was gone for most of August was because I was making a video every day in August. That really did take a lot out of me. Now I have committed myself to another month long thing. I am not drinking soda for all of September. I am doing well with that but every once in a while I find myself wanting one but I have not given in.

So I am blogging in class, I know not good. This one woman, yes a woman, she is much older than everyone else, just can in 15 minutes late. I get that sometimes you are late and you do not like it but you shouldn't make a big deal about it. She comes in by slamming the door open. She then makes a huge sigh as she walks to her desk where she slams down her bag. Then as she pulls everything out, she slams those down on the table, too. It is really no big deal. You should just come in and sit down and be quiet.

Well, that is pretty much everything for right now. I am also going to try and blog a lot more because I really do like blogging. It is a lot of fun and I hope that it improves my writing,

Love ya,
Christina
